Only If You're Lucky Review

Image
Title  - Only If You're Lucky Author  - Stacey Willingham ________________________________________________________________   spice 🌶 - 0 scare 😱 - 2 plot 📖 - 4.5 characters  🧍- 3.5 stars ⭐ - 4 That’s the beauty of fiction, of words: when your life becomes too boring, too bland, too hard or depressing or chaotic or calm, they allow you to simply float away and inhabit another, try it on for size. With so many options so ripe for the picking, it would be a shame to only taste just one. Only If You're Lucky  is a solid 4-star book for me. I have now read all three of Wilingham's books (so far) and  Only If You're Lucky  is my favorite. The book revolves around Margot in three different timelines. One is from before her childhood best friend died, another in the present when she is at college, and the last is after during a murder investigation. The timelines can get somewhat messy, but overall I enjoyed how the plot flowed through them and dropped clues as it went. I

Root & Bone ARC Review!

Title  - Root and Bone (Spencer Sisters #1) Author  - Jessica Raney ________________________________________________________________   spice 🌶 - 2 scare 😱 - 1 plot 📖 - 3.5 characters  🧍- 4 stars ⭐ - 3.5 Do you like books revolving around white trash witch sisters? If you do, this book is for you!  And that cover - how pretty!  Root and Bone has a lot going on. It involves witches, goblins, werewolves, vampires, and ghosts. All of that was slightly too much for my liking, but the book still had some great qualities!  - Jewel saved this book for me, her firey disposition was entertaining and I identified with her "I don't give a f*ck attitude".  - The plot was fairly fast-paced, a lot is packed in the barely 300 pages.  - All of the magic scenes were fairly detailed, I applaud Raney on her attention to detail!  Unfortunately, there were some low points for me as well.  - While this does not affect the rating because it was an ARC, there were several grammatical errors.

A Court of Silver Flames (ACOTAR #5) Review!

Title  - A Court of Silver Flames Author  - Sarah J. Maas ________________________________________________________________   spice 🌶 - 5 scare 😱 - 2 plot 📖 - 4 characters  🧍- 5 (can I go higher than 5?) stars ⭐ - 5  I mean... what can I say that no one else hasn't?  It was GREAT! This is the only book in the ACOTAR series (so far) that had me from the get-go. Obviously in the beginning Nesta is a major c*nt. My view of her started to improve only to have it all come crashing down and I hated her again. Just when I think ya know... maybe I'm just not a Nesta stan BOOM the lake chapter happens and I'm done for. Nesta is sobbing, Cassian is sobbing, and I am sobbing - everyone involved is sobbing, I'm pretty sure my dog even shed a tear. Of course, the last quarter of the book is INSANE. I would expect nothing less from Sarah J. Maas at this point. It was unbelievable and utterly ridiculous, and I wouldn't have it any other way.  While I may not be the bi

Summer TBR

Well, the sun has officially made its grand debut here in the Pacific Northwest, meaning my seasonal depression is gone without a trace and I'm ready for summer! I don't know how many of you live and/or have visited somewhere in the Pacific Northwest in the winter, but it's GLOOMY . While you can take all the vitamin D supplements you want to try and ward off seasonal depression, nothing beats the sunshine. I have put together an awesome summer readlist that I hope can inspire some of you to get into the summery spirit.  In no particular order -  #1 The Quarry Girls - Jess Lourey  Am I still getting through books I've been dying to read for a year and a half now? Absolutely. The Quarry Girls  is one of them. I usually don't read books set in anything other than the present day and don't read books where the main characters are teens. The Quarry Girls has both of those elements, but regardless the synopsis just hooks me. I can't wait to dive into this 70&#
