Holly Jolly Realist - Book 3 Review!

Image
Title  - The Season of Second Chances Author  - Kristina McMorris, T. Greenwood ________________________________________________________________ stars ⭐ - 3.5 Overall, I think The Christmas Collector carried this collection. Absolutely no fault to Gifted, it was also a good book and T. Greenwood is obviously a well-respected author. It just didn't have the flow that The Christmas Collector did.  I do think this collection as a whole is worth a read. Both stories are very heartwarming and can be that pick me up a lot of us need in the holiday season. With that being said, even though these two stories are technically in the same book, they are completely different novellas by different authors and deserve their own moment. Below will be my individual review for each novella. I will link the standalone version of The Christmas Collector . Upon some research, it seems that for the time being the only way to get Gifted is to purchase the collection. However, I doubt you will disapp

Title  - Christmas Honeymoon (For One) - Sweet Paradise Resort Christmas Book 1 Author  Hope August _________________________________________________________________ spice 🌶 - 0 scare 😱 - 0 plot 📖 - 3 characters  🧍- 3 stars ⭐ - 3 “I can be a romantic if the timing is right.” This quote spoken by Kate's best friend is a perfect example of how I feel about this book. I too, can be romantic if the timing is right, this book just isn't timed right. First off they are only "enemies" for a hot second, so calling this novella and "enemies to lovers" is a stretch. Secondly, the book itself is very bare-bones. It is comparable to the Hallmark movies I watch while I wrap Christmas presents. Lastly, Liam is not perfect, far from it. I personally think he's a guy who puts on a good face but is actually pretty arrogant. Exhibit A - “Change the song,” he demanded. The man stared at him, baffled. “What?” “I said we’re changing the song, buddy. Start this one.” He

Title  - Sugar & Sliced - Maple Lane Series #.5 Author  - C.A. Phipps __________________________________________________________________________ spice 🌶 - 0 scare 😱 - 1.25 plot 📖 - 4 characters  🧍- 4 stars ⭐ - 4   “It’s no one’s business but yours, sweetheart. The people who care about you know you’ve been unhappy, and they only want what’s best for you in the future, so pay the busybodies and troublemakers no mind.” Cozy mysteries - very interesting concept. On one page you have a girl talking to her cat about a baking competition, the next you are hearing about petechial hemorrhaging. I'm on the fence about whether I jive with this sub-genre. The book was a great change of pace from a lot of gorey and thrilling books nowadays but still has the mystery aspect that keeps you going. My issue is that the plotlines and character traits seemed very juvenile at times. I think this is more of a critique of the genre as a whole and not the author. Because you don't have the

2 for 1 Review - Nonfiction Edition 1

Hey guys, I know reviews on nonfiction books are not what usually pops up on my blog, but I do read them once in a blue moon! I like to read nonfiction books in conjunction with my regular fiction books. I got on a roll and ended up wrapping up my two nonfiction books on the same day, so here's a tandem review! I wish I could be one of the readers who could pick up a nonfiction book and just read it. Unfortunately, that is not my forte (yet). Whenever I do buy nonfiction books it is usually when I am in a cute bookstore and think "Well this would be cool to learn about this". I pick it up and immediately buy it, with no more thought on the subject. Then I have to actually read the book and learn things *sigh*.  The two books in this review could not be more different. On one hand, you have profiles on people who unalived many in the '80s, on the other you have a book about how to communicate through flowers. What can I say? I'm nothing if not all over the board.

The Rabbit Hutch Review

Title  - The Rabbit Hutch Author  - Tess Gunty __________________________________________________________________________ spice 🌶 - 1.5 scare 😱 - 1.5 (the ending has some suspense) plot 📖 - 3 characters  🧍- 4 stars ⭐ - 3.5 This book is so hard to rate because I feel that the plot left a lot to be desired and yet I loved it so much. While the words themselves were eloquently aligned within each individual storyline there was some major disconnect throughout the book. I understand the whole premise of the book is to outline the people living in the Rabbit Hutch, and it's a great premise. However, when you are outlining the lives of several people interconnected throughout an apartment building along with additional persons it's A LOT. I think two of the storylines could have been easily dropped and the book would have been a lot more cohesive. The characters are weird, but not in a poetic way - think more "Look at me, I'm so weird". *tongue out emoji* *peace s

As it does every year, the Christmas season is approaching far quicker than I thought. Before I am lost in a frenzy of Black Friday sales, cookie baking, ribbon, and tissue paper I should let y'all know what is on the docket for the holiday season! All of the books you will see are ones I have either won in giveaways (thanks, Goodreads ) or picked up on Stuff Your Kindle Day . Needless to say, none of these books are from the bestseller list, but that does not mean they can't be fabulous books! I'm excited to bring some possibly underrated books into the light for you to discover. Now - let's get to it!

November 9th review - don't come for me CoHo fangirlies

Title  - November 9th Author  - Colleen Hoover __________________________________________________________________________ spice 🌶 - 3 (nothing noteworthy) scare 😱 - 0 plot 📖 - 3 characters  🧍- -47 (yes, negative 47) stars ⭐ - 1  Man I should have listened to ya'll (BookTok) and just left this one alone. Of course, though, I had to find out for myself if all the hate this book catches is actually warranted. It is. I should have known with my great Wattpad obsession circa 2013 that I would forever be stuck in a toxic relationship with trash books, like the one you see before you. In typical Colleen Hoover fashion, this book is bingeable as hell. Although, November 9th is bingeable in the same way as the leftover candy you don't hand out on Halloween. You end up feeling gross and a little sick afterward. I took it upon myself to read a couple of reviews before finishing this one and realized I had blocked out some of the scenes in this book to try and save my sanity. Right a
